About Us
The 501(c)(3) corporation Kao Family Foundation was established in 2004 by Dr. and Mrs. Min H. Kao1 as a Kansas not-for-profit corporation to operate exclusively for charitable, educational, literary and scientific purposes. The foundation was qualified to operate in California in 2020 as the Kao Family Charitable Foundation.
From the outset, the Foundation was focused primarily on three areas:
- Secondary education in the fields of electrical and computer engineering
- Medical research programs
- Arts and culture
In 2020, with the expansion of the board of directors and newly achieved qualification to operate in California, the Foundation expanded its geographical outreach and focus to include the following fields:
- STEM education
- Health and medical
- Humanitarian
- Culture and arts
- Sustainable development
- Other
Additionally, in 2019, Dr. and Mrs. Kao founded the Kao Family Education Foundation in Taiwan with a goal to improve education standards, promote social welfare activities and enhance civic morality.
